Description

The Deacon 72 from Volkl has been reworked from the ground up. New geometry, a widened shovel and shortened tip and tail rocker bring out the best in turns of any radius. Two less millimetres at the waist allow you to switch edges even faster and with less effort. Its versatility is magnified by Tailored Carbon Tips. Carbon fibres applied using Volkl's exclusive Tailored Fibre Placement (TFP) process allow the brand's engineers to influence curve behaviour with great accuracy. The strength and alignment of the fibres define the force you need to apply and the energy that builds up where it's needed. Agile shovel reaction is a feature of special note. This means that as soon as you initiate a turn, the ski begins to steer in a measured and controlled manner, depending on how the edges are employed. This construction also allows means less weight without any loss of stability. Last but not least, TFP allows our designers to tailor every length to the requirements of each target group. The whole Deacon range is made with 3D.Glass at the front and rear areas, while the ski is built around our renowned multilayer wood core featuring a mix of poplar and beech. Two full layers of Titanal give the ski its familiar vigour.

On average, your skis should fall somewhere between your chin and forehead when held upright. There are a few additional details that play a significant role in determining which ski size is best fit for you. After consulting the size chart, be sure to consider your weight, skill level, skiing style and the type of terrain you’ll be frequenting.

Here are some reasons for sizing up or down:

Weight

  • Size up if you are closer to the high end of your weight range or above average weight for your height.
  • Size down if you are closer to the low end of your weight range or below average weight for your height.

Skill Level and Style

  • Size up if you are an advanced/expert skier who prefers to be fast and aggressive in style.
    • Longer skis tend to have a more stable feel.
  • Size down if you are a beginner/intermediate skier who prefers skiing at a more leisurely pace with quick turns.
    • Shorter skis offer higher overall manoeuverability.

Terrain

  • Size up if you love to explore the backcountry. Most off-piste skiers lean towards longer skis.
  • Size down if you prefer carving your way down a well-groomed mountain or hard pack snow.
