What temperature rating do I need for a winter boot?

A boot rated to about -20°C suits typical urban commuting and daily errands under normal activity. For extended stationary exposure, like snowmobiling or ice fishing, a heavier-duty option from Bogs or Salomon rated to -40°C is a better fit.

What is the advantage of synthetic boot insulation?

Synthetic insulation like Thinsulate retains most of its heat-trapping ability even when damp from sweat or melting snow, unlike down, which loses much of its loft when wet. It's also generally less bulky than an equivalent warmth level of down.

A Pac boot pairs a waterproof rubber lower shell with a leather or nylon upper and a thick, removable felt liner. Because the liner comes out, you can dry it overnight if it gets damp, making Pac boots well suited to extreme cold or wet conditions.

How much room do I need for winter socks?

Size up slightly to comfortably fit thick winter socks without compressing the insulation, since a too-tight boot restricts circulation and reduces warmth. Try boots on with the actual socks you'll wear to confirm the fit before purchasing.

Are winter boots compatible with ice cleats?

Yes, most flat-soled winter boots, including those from Columbia, work with slip-on traction devices like Yaktrax for added grip on glare ice. Boots with unusually deep lugs or odd sole shapes can fit less securely, so it's worth checking compatibility first.

How do I track my winter boot order?

You'll receive a confirmation email with a tracking link once your order ships. Tracking can take up to 48 hours to update once the package reaches the carrier's sorting facility. Contact customer care if your tracking number isn't working after that window.

Can I wash my removable winter boot liners?

Most synthetic and felt liners can be hand-washed with mild detergent, then air dried at room temperature over a few days. Never put liners in a hot dryer, since heat can shrink or warp the material and reduce its insulating loft.
