Can I just wear running shoes to play pickleball?

No. Running shoes are built for forward motion, and their elevated heel and softer sidewalls make rapid side-to-side shuffling a real tripping and ankle-rolling hazard. Dedicated court shoes provide the lateral stability pickleball requires.

What is the difference between indoor and outdoor pickleball shoes?

Outdoor shoes use dense rubber to withstand abrasive asphalt. Indoor shoes use softer, gummier rubber for maximum hardwood grip without leaving scuff marks. Wearing one type on the other's surface sacrifices either grip or shoe lifespan.

Can I wear tennis shoes for outdoor pickleball?

Yes. Tennis and outdoor pickleball shoes share the same core requirements: lateral stability, toe drag protection, and hard-court grip. A quality hard-court tennis shoe works perfectly for outdoor pickleball.

How much cushioning do pickleball shoes have?

A balanced, moderate amount. Too much soft foam undermines the stability needed for quick lateral stops, but enough responsive cushioning absorbs repeated hard-court impact over a match or extended session.

How do I know when my pickleball shoes are worn out?

Check the pivot points under the ball of the foot. Once that tread wears smooth, you'll notice reduced traction and confidence during lateral movement, signaling it's time for a new pair.

Does a wider toe box help in pickleball?

Yes, it lets toes splay naturally during hard plants, creating a wider, more stable base for balance during quick directional changes. A cramped toe box can also contribute to bruised toenails over time.

Can I ship pickleball shoes directly to my local club?

Yes, we can ship to any valid Canadian address, including clubs that accept deliveries. Confirm with the club that they can receive packages on your behalf, or use Buy Online, Pick Up In-Store as an alternative.
